Andrew Altschul

Andrew Altschul's third novel, The Gringa, was published in March. In a starred review, Booklist called it “a captivating depiction of passion, disenchantment, and hope gone violently awry.” His previous novels are Deus Ex Machina and Lady Lazarus. His work has appeared in Best New American Voices, Best American Nonrequired Reading, O. Henry Prize Stories, and numerous journals and magazines. A former Wallace Stegner Fellow and Jones Lecturer at Stanford, and the founding Books Editor of The Rumpus, Andrew Altschul directed the Center for Literary Arts in San Jose from 2009-2015. He is currently a contributing editor at Zyzzyva and the director of the Creative Writing program at Colorado State University.
